Our History

In the year 1903 G.A.Richter, along with his father-in-law LS. Spivey, opened the doors of G.A Richter Furniture and Undertaking Company.  In time, the undertaking business was dropped, as did most furniture stores at that time.

Furniture used to be delivered by horse drawn wagon. In fact, on one occasion, one of the horses became ill and had to be put to sleep.  However, the veterinarian put the wrong horse to sleep and left the business with no means of delivery.

Another problem of the old days was a saloon across the street. On a few occasions, Richter would go to work on Monday morning and find a bullet hole in one of the front windows that had come from the saloon.

Today, Richter Furniture is owned by the husband and wife team of Randall and Karen Richter, along with their daughter Tamara, who is the fifth generation now associated with Richter's.  When you come in to shop, there is a very good chance that you will be waited on by Tamara, and that Karen and Randall will personally deliver the furniture to you.

You will find nationally known name brands.  All furniture is guaranteed, and in most cases repair work is done free of charge even after the warranty expires.  None of the big city chain stores can match the personal, reliable service you will receive at Richter Furniture.
